Celebrating 2,619 Mishnayos—A Milestone of Steady Torah Growth

When Rabbi Katz began his Mishna Yomi podcast four years ago, he had no idea it would one day reach over 40,000 downloads across more than 20 countries. What started as a simple goal of two mishnayos a day has grown into an extraordinary accomplishment: 2,619 mishnayos learned so far, including 683 from Zeraim, 681 from Moed, 570 from Nashim, and now, with the recent completion of the 685 mishnayos in Seder Nezikin.
On Tuesday, July 22, Anshe Chesed gathered to celebrate this meaningful achievement. The evening was beautifully catered by Holy Schnitzel and featured a siyum made by those who completed Seder Nezikin, followed by spirited dancing, divrei Torah, lechaims, and a moving kumzitz.
Rabbi Katz spoke about the deep joy of Talmud Torah and how mastery and consistent commitment can transform learning into a true relationship with Torah. He reflected on Tisha B’Av, the one day we are not permitted to learn because learning brings such joy. His challenge to all of us: how can we cultivate a bond with Torah so real and so powerful that we genuinely feel its absence on that day?
Thank you to everyone who attended and helped make the evening so special. We encourage everyone to take on the commitment to learn a little Torah every day. Even just five minutes a day can change everything.
